Therapeutic massage and neuromuscular therapy in Dún Laoghaire — helping you move and live better.
Welcome to Matán Therapeutic

I am Tom Mulligan, and I believe the body has an amazing ability to heal and adapt. My role is to support that process by removing the barriers that are getting in the way.
I trained in Canada as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and in Dublin as a Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT), and I'm a member of the Irish Association of Neuromuscular Therapists ANMT.ie. With over 4,000 hours of education and 20 years of hands-on experience, I work with people dealing with pain, tension, and movement limitations.
My approach is grounded in evidence, anatomy, and real clinical outcomes. Every treatment is designed around what your body needs, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Treatments Offered
Evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to your specific needs
60 minutes
NMT is a specialized approach to treating pain, dysfunction, and postural imbalances. It identifies and addresses trigger points, nerve compression, and muscular restrictions.

Deep tissue work focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It's highly effective for breaking down scar tissue, releasing chronic tension, and improving range of motion.

Sports massage is designed to support athletic performance—whether you're training, competing, or recovering. It helps maintain flexibility, reduce injury risk, and speed up recovery.

Swedish massage is a full-body treatment focused on relaxation, circulation, and stress relief. It uses flowing strokes, kneading, and gentle stretching.

"I am a 72 yr old woman. I discovered Tom at Matan Therapeutic in April this year. I had been looking for this type of therapeutic massage for some time. I go once a month now and find the work invaluable. Sometimes I have a particular strain or soreness eg shoulder problems and Tom works really well to ease and improve this. Other times I simply attend for maintenance...the older we get, the harder we have to work at it...and this has made a difference for me. Tom listens very well to the individual in front of him and he is extremely professional."
— Helen Jones"I had my first treatment with Tom this week. I've been suffering from lower back pain for a few years, and Tom was thorough in his diagnosis and clear in his advice. I've come away with a plan to address it and a far better idea of how to permanently address the discomfort I've been in. I couldn't recommend Tom highly enough. Thanks!"
— Chris Pendleton"I highly recommend Tom and Matan Therapeutic. I had a neck strain and he relieved a lot of the pain after one session, which other therapists could not. Thank you Tom."
